AFCAT: flying branch versus ground duty branches

Vishal Chauhan Posted 4 months ago 1.6K views

The Air Force Common Admission Test is used by the Indian Air Force to recruit officers for the flying branch and for the ground duty branches, which include technical and non technical streams.

  • The flying branch includes an aptitude test for pilots at the selection stage.
  • Ground duty technical branches need a relevant engineering degree.
  • Medical standards, especially eyesight, are strict for the flying branch.
  • Selection includes the written test and testing by the Air Force Selection Board.

Read the current notification for eligibility, age limits and the list of branches.

Many candidates apply for both flying and ground duty. If you do, understand that the medical and aptitude standards for flying are stricter.

Some ground duty non technical branches accept graduates from other streams. Check the branch wise eligibility in the notification.
